The World of Quincunx

The Five Factions

The four ancient powers of the Tetrad and their Hybrid human offspring have been joined recently by a fifth and growing power in the world. In this modern day and age, the Titans of the earth, the Angels of heaven, the Demons of hell and the Sidhe of the faerie realms have been joined by the incomprehensibly strange denizens of cyberspace and the sometimes unstable genius inventors, engineers, and scientists who call themselves Alphas.

Nephilim:

Hybrid offspring born from the ancient coupling of angels and humans, the Nephilim inherit an angelic legacy of healing, communication, and hierarchy. While they may seem to some like obnoxious do-gooders, they’re better than anyone at getting a team working with a common purpose. Their heavenly powers are not to be trifled with.

Shaedim:

The descendents of humans who sought power or companionship among demons, the Shaedim have a contrary streak a mile wide. They summon up creatures of hell, wield the powers of Hellfire and they’re almost always ready to make a deal. Just… read the fine print before you shake hands.

Devas:

The nature spirits we call Titans sometimes take human form and seek company among humankind. Their Hybrid descendants may look a little scruffy, but their talent for shapeshifting, healing plant magic, and manipulation of elemental forces are dangerous to their enemies and a lasting boon to their friends.

Fae:

The primal manifestation of the human imagination, the Sidhe, are endlessly fascinated with humans in all their diversity. Their Hybrid children, the Fae, are masters of illusion and trickery, as well as gifted manipulators of luck and time. Alluring to be sure, and often whimsical, but a dangerous edge often lurks under a velvet exterior.

Alphas:

Without a drop of magic to be found in their heritage, these technological upstarts have turned the established balance of power on its head in just a few short years. With seemingly impossible feats of genetic engineering, cybernetics, high-energy plasma, and nanoscopic robots (and a few really big ones), the alphas match the hybrids trick for trick, while showing the hybrids a few new ones too.
